The exercise of designing the key structures proposed to be constructed in Amaravati by the government has raised a great deal of curiosity.

The talk of developing a sustainable smart city, the designs for which have been created by international consultant Foster + Partners, has made people eager to see the elements of innovation.

‘Close-to-reality’ models of key structures including the Assembly, the Secretariat, the High Court and the Central complex showcased on the sidelines of the ‘Happy Cities’ Summit-2019” in the city, became a subject of public curiosity.

Created by the Hyderabad-based Models India, the design of the buildings portray a Central Government Complex that includes the key structures, the High Court Complex and the Assembly along with other Secretariat buildings.

Interestingly, the Assembly building looks as if positioned inside a large freshwater lake at the centre of the spine, which appears to be floating over the water surface.

Staff associated with the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) there explain that based on Hindu principles of Vastu Shastra, its square plan has the Ministers’ entry from the east and the public entrance from the north. The deep overhangs allow natural ventilation and cooling throughout, and the programming is made up of concentric layers of rooms and circulation space, they say. With Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu arriving late on account of his tight schedule that saw him attending programmes since morning, delegates and visitors made use of the time viewing and learning all about the ‘iconic’ structures designed to lend a world-class look to the capital.
