Nellore: YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy extended invitation to his archrival and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to join in the fight for Special Category Status and advised him to keep the special package aside. In a challenging tone, the Opposition Leader dared the Chief Minister by asking him whether he was ready to join hands with YSRC to get Andhra Pradesh Special Category Status.

“Let us make all the 25 Members of Parliament, including those of YSR Congress and TD resign and see how we don’t get Special Category Status to the State,” Jagan Mohan Reddy asserted during a face-to-face with women at Renamala in Nellore district on Thursday. “Why wouldn’t special category status be accrued to the state if 25 MPs from AP resigned on the floor of the House,” the YSRC chief asked.

It may be recalled that Jagan had already announced that YSRC MPs would resign if special status was not granted by April 5. To a young girl’s question on the status, he said it was the lifeline of the state and YSRCP would not rest till it was achieved. He called upon the TD MPs also to resign so that the Centre would be forced to grant the status. He asserted that his party MPs would pressurise the Centre on the status during the Budget session of Parliament starting March 5.
